Tornado Watch issued June 27 at 8:37PM CDT until June 28 at 12:00AM CDT by NWS Aberdeen SD THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS EXTENDED TORNADO WATCH 406 TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING AREAS UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT TONIGHT IN SOUTH DAKOTA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 7 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA HUGHES JONES LYMAN SULLY IN NORTH CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA CAMPBELL POTTER WALWORTH THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF GETTYSBURG, HERREID, KENNEBEC, MOBRIDGE, MURDO, ONIDA, AND PIERRE.

Special Weather Statement issued June 27 at 10:14PM CDT by NWS Aberdeen SD At 1013 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Wendte to near Draper to near Intersection of Highway 83 and White River. Movement was east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Murdo, Draper, Westover, Intersection of Highway 83 and White River, Wendte, and Van Metre. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for central South Dakota.
