Heat Advisory issued June 27 at 9:35PM CDT until June 28 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Sioux Falls SD * WHAT...Heat index values up to 102 expected. * WHERE...Bon Homme, Hanson, Hutchinson, and McCook Counties. * WHEN...From 1 PM to 9 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued June 28 at 3:34AM CDT until June 28 at 4:00AM CDT by NWS Sioux Falls SD At 333 AM CDT, a cluster of severe thunderstorms were located roughly along a line extending from near Salem to near Dolton to near Avon, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Parkston, Tyndall, Parker, Lake Vermillion State Recreation Area, Salem, Freeman, Scotland, Marion, Canistota, Tripp, Alexandria, Menno, Avon, Bridgewater, Montrose, Emery, Irene, Mayfield, Kaylor, and Monroe. Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from windows. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
