Special Weather Statement issued July 1 at 3:35PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM At 335 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking an area of strong thunderstorms extending from near Broadview to 6 miles northeast of Elida, moving north at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Clovis, Portales, Melrose, Elida, Grady, Cannon Air Force Base, Saint Vrain, Ranchvale and Oasis State Park. This includes Highway 60 between Mile Markers 360 and 394. Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. Blowing dust associated with strong thunderstorm winds can reduce visibility below one quarter mile at times.
