Fire Weather Watch issued June 28 at 12:43PM MDT until June 29 at 9:00PM MDT by NWS Cheyenne WY The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Fire Weather Watch, which is in effect from Monday morning through Monday evening. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zones 417, 418, 419, 430, 431, 432, 433, 434, 435, 436, and 437. * WIND...Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Localized gusts up to 60 mph are possible. Winds will become more westerly in the late afternoon and evening hours as they gradually weaken. * HUMIDITY...Between 10 and 20 percent. The lowest RH is expected south of the North Platte River. * IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings.

Special Weather Statement issued June 28 at 11:02PM MDT by NWS Cheyenne WY At 1102 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Agate Fossil Beds National Monument, or 28 miles northeast of Torrington, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Crawford, Soldier Creek Campground, Agate Fossil Beds National Monument, Fort Robinson State Park, Belmont, and the south fork burn scar. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued June 28 at 11:36PM MDT until June 29 at 12:00AM MDT by NWS Cheyenne WY At 1136 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 11 miles south of Fort Robinson State Park, or 32 miles southwest of Chadron, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Crawford, Soldier Creek Campground, Fort Robinson State Park, Belmont, and Marsland. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
