Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued July 4 at 12:38AM MDT until July 4 at 6:00AM MDT by NWS Goodland KS THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 453 IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM MDT /7 AM CDT/ EARLY THIS MORNING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN COLORADO THIS WATCH INCLUDES 3 COUNTIES IN EAST CENTRAL COLORADO CHEYENNE KIT CARSON IN NORTHEAST COLORADO YUMA IN KANSAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 11 COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST KANSAS CHEYENNE DECATUR GRAHAM NORTON RAWLINS SHERIDAN SHERMAN THOMAS IN WEST CENTRAL KANSAS GOVE LOGAN WALLACE IN NEBRASKA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 3 COUNTIES IN SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA DUNDY HITCHCOCK RED WILLOW THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ARAPAHOE, ATWOOD, BENKELMAN, BIRD CITY, BURLINGTON, CHEYENNE WELLS, COLBY, CULBERTSON, GOODLAND, GRAINFIELD, GRINNELL, HILL CITY, HOXIE, MCCOOK, NORTON, OAKLEY, OBERLIN, PALISADE, QUINTER, SHARON SPRINGS, ST. FRANCIS, STRATTON NE, TRENTON, WRAY, AND YUMA.

Flood Watch issued July 3 at 7:59PM MDT until July 4 at 6:00AM MDT by NWS Goodland KS Rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches occurred in portions of southwest Nebraska last night and early this morning. As a result, the area is more susceptible to flash flooding. Thunderstorms have developed in northeast Colorado and may bring additional heavy rain later this evening and through the overnight hours. * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of southwest Nebraska, including the following counties, Dundy, Hitchcock and Red Willow. * WHEN...Until 6 AM MDT /7 AM CDT/ Saturday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall moving across saturated ground from previous rainfall. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
