Extreme Heat Warning issued July 12 at 12:54PM MDT until July 16 at 12:00AM MDT by NWS Billings MT * WHAT...Extremely hot daytime temperatures combined with warm overnight low temperatures will produce cumulative heat stress. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Montana and north central Wyoming. * WHEN...Until midnight MDT Wednesday Night. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures of 104 to 112 today. Highs temperatures Monday through Wednesday will range from 100 to 105. Overnight lows will remain well above normal. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, plan outdoor activities during the early morning and late evening hours, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

In South Central MT Fire Zone...129. In Southeast MT Fire Zones...130...131...132. In Southeast MT and Northwest SD Fire Zone...133. * COUNTIES AFFECTED: In North Central WY...Sheridan. In Northwest SD...Harding. In South Central MT...Big Horn...Carbon...Yellowstone. In Southeast MT...Carter...Custer...Fallon...Powder River Rosebud...Treasure. * WIND: South 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * HUMIDITY: Minimums of 5 to 10 percent. Humidity will be slow to recover overnight. * TEMPERATURES: 90 to 100 degrees, falling into the upper 60s to 70s overnight. Some locations may remain in the 80s overnight. * COLD FRONT: Arrives over south central Montana this evening, bringing a shift to breezy northwest winds. The front will reach far southeast Montana early Monday morning. Before the frontal passage, a southeasterly low level jet will produce gusty ridgetop winds (up to 40 mph) and a slow humidity recovery over southeast Montana tonight. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
