Northeastern Moniteau County in central Missouri... * WHEN...Until 900 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 653 AM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Columbia, Mexico, Centralia, Columbia Regional Airport, Hallsville, Auxvasse, Sturgeon, Rocheport, Murry, Midway, Harrisburg, Kingdom City, Vandiver, Lupus, McBaine, Hatton and Thompson. - This includes the following State Parks... Rock Bridge State Park, Finger Lakes State Park and Jewell Cemetery Historic Site. This includes Interstate 70 in Missouri between exits 115 and 148. Hinkson Creek at Columbia. River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast precipitation for the next 24 hours. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Hinkson Creek at Columbia. * WHEN...Until Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 20.9 feet, Height of Providence Road just north of the gage bridge. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 4:00 AM CDT Monday the stage was 20.7 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 4:00 AM CDT Monday was 20.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage late this morning and continue falling to 4.7 feet early Thursday morning. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 20.7 feet on 09/14/2008. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
