Flood Watch issued July 5 at 5:22PM EDT until July 6 at 1:00AM EDT by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...The District of Columbia, and portions of Maryland, including the following areas, Carroll, Central and Southeast Howard, Central and Southeast Montgomery, Frederick, Northwest Howard, Northwest Montgomery and Prince Georges, and northern Virginia, including the following areas, Arlington/Falls Church/Alexandria, Eastern Loudoun and Fairfax. * WHEN...Until 1 AM EDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms will develop into an increasingly humid airmass this evening. This, combined with recent rainfall, may result in flash flooding, particularly along small streams and in urban areas. Heat Advisory issued July 5 at 9:45AM EDT until July 5 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC * WHAT...Heat index values of 105 to 109. * WHERE...Washington DC, and portions of central, northeast, northern, and southern Maryland, and central, northern, and northwest Virginia. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
