Heat Advisory issued June 11 at 3:16PM EDT until June 12 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC * WHAT...For both Heat Advisories, heat index values up to 107. * WHERE...Portions of DC, central, northeast, northern, and southern Maryland, and central and northern Virginia. * WHEN...For the first Heat Advisory, until 8 PM EDT this evening. For the second Heat Advisory, from 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 48 knots. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Boaters could easily be thrown overboard by suddenly higher wind and waves capsizing their vessel. Boats could suffer significant damage in high winds. * Locations impacted include... Potomac Creek, Widewater, Maryland Point, Nanjemoy Creek, Port Tobacco River, Cobb Island, Swan Point, Mathias Point, U.S. 301 Nice Memorial Bridge, Wicomico River, Popes Creek, Brent Point, Westmoreland State Park, Fairview Beach, Colonial Beach, and Dahlgren.
