Special Weather Statement issued July 1 at 2:32PM CDT by NWS New Orleans LA At 232 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm capable of producing funnel clouds over Taft, or over Hahnville, moving west at 10 mph. HAZARD...Funnel clouds and winds in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...If a funnel cloud briefly touches down, minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Hahnville, Reserve, Laplace, Killona, Norco, Montz, Edgard, Taft, New Sarpy, Destrehan, Garyville, and Luling. This includes Interstate 310 near mile marker 10. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
