Flood Watch issued June 20 at 3:18AM CDT until June 20 at 3:00PM CDT by NWS Shreveport LA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Arkansas, including the following counties, Columbia, Lafayette, Miller and Union, Louisiana, including the following parishes, Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Caldwell, Claiborne, De Soto, Grant, Jackson, La Salle, Lincoln, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Red River, Sabine, Union, Webster and Winn, and Texas, including the following counties, Angelina, Cass, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine and Shelby. * WHEN...Until 3 PM CDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A slow moving upper level low pressure system will traverse our Four-State area from deep east and northeast Texas, across extreme southern Arkansas and all of our Louisiana parishes. The system will bring training of thunderstorms and heavy amounts in short order, on already soaked soil. Rainfall amounts will vary with widespread coverage bringing 1 to 3 inches, and some higher amount of 4 to 5 inches may be possible. Runoff will be quick and flash flooding will be possible in this watch area through this morning and east of I-49 this afternoon. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. East Central Natchitoches Parish in northwestern Louisiana... * Until 1230 PM CDT. * At 926 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain 14 miles northeast of Colfax, or 16 miles south of Winnfield, moving south at 15 mph. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 2.5 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Jena, Colfax, Montgomery, Midway, Pollock, Dry Prong, Georgetown, Fishville, Bentley, Zenoria, Williana, Rochelle, Rogers, Lake Iatt, Nebo, Catahoula Lake and Aloha. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
