Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued June 13 at 5:23PM CDT until June 14 at 12:00AM CDT by NWS Dodge City KS THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 329 IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT TONIGHT FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN KANSAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 17 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL KANSAS ELLIS RUSH IN SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS BARBER COMANCHE EDWARDS KIOWA PAWNEE PRATT STAFFORD IN SOUTHWEST KANSAS CLARK FORD GRAY HASKELL HODGEMAN MEADE SEWARD STEVENS THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ASHLAND, CIMARRON, COLDWATER, DODGE CITY, FOWLER, GREENSBURG, HANSTON, HAVILAND, HAYS, HUGOTON, JETMORE, KINSLEY, KIOWA, LA CROSSE, LAKE COLDWATER, LARNED, LEWIS, LIBERAL, MACKSVILLE, MEADE, MEDICINE LODGE, MINNEOLA, MONTEZUMA, PFEIFER, PLAINS CITY, PRATT, PROTECTION, SATANTA, ST. Special Weather Statement issued June 13 at 6:15PM CDT by NWS Dodge City KS At 614 PM CDT, conditions are becoming favorable for the development of landspout tornadoes. However, at this time it is unknown which if any storm would produce a landspout. Any landspouts which develop are expected to pose a limited threat. Previous landspouts have been reported near Ford and Hodgeman counties. Locations impacted include... Dodge City, Gray, Larned, Kinsley, La Crosse, Jetmore, Bucklin, Spearville, Macksville, Lewis, Otis, Mullinville, Bison, Burdett, Ford, Hanston, Offerle, Garfield, Rush Center, and Rozel. Landspout tornadoes can form with a developing thunderstorm before rain, hail, and even thunder is observed. Landspout tornadoes are not usually associated with a wall cloud and are often difficult to detect with weather radar.
