These funnel clouds are typically brief, drop only a few hundred feet from the cloud base, and rarely become a tornado or cause damage. WHERE...Portions of Central and North Central Iowa, along and north of Highway 30. WHEN...through 6 pm CDT. IMPACTS...None expected. South Skunk River at Colfax affecting Polk, Jasper and Marion Counties. South Skunk River near Ames US 30 affecting Polk and Story Counties. Fourmile Creek at Des Moines Easton Blvd affecting Polk County. South Skunk River near Ames W Riverside Rd affecting Story County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...The South Skunk River near Ames US 30, or from Ioway Creek to the Polk-Jasper County line. * WHEN...Until early tomorrow afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 23.0 feet, Water affects the Shady Grove Trailer Park located at 1006 S Dayton Ave as well as the railroad just northeast of Cambridge. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 23.2 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 23.4 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow morning. - Flood stage is 21.5 feet. For the latest stream observations and forecasts refer to weather.gov/desmoines/water. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
