Flood Watch issued June 5 at 8:17PM CDT until June 6 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southwest Iowa, including the following counties, Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, Page and Pottawattamie and Nebraska, including the following counties, Butler, Cass, Douglas, Gage, Johnson, Lancaster, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Sarpy, Saunders and Seward. * WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A band of heavy rain is expected to develop late this evening and linger into early Saturday morning. Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued June 5 at 10:56PM CDT until June 5 at 11:15PM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE At 1055 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Hancock to 5 miles northwest of Griswold to 2 miles north of Elliott to 6 miles north of Red Oak, moving northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Weather Instrument Measurement. At 1054 PM CDT, a wind gust of 69 MPH was reported 6 miles west of Macedonia. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. These severe thunderstorms will remain over mainly rural areas of northwestern Montgomery, northeastern Mills and eastern Pottawattamie Counties, including the following locations... Old Town Park, Botna Bend Park, McClelland, Farm Creek Public Wildlife Area, and Weston. This includes Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 14 and 17, and between mile markers 34 and 37. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
