Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Between 5 and 9 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 4 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for New Market, North Huntsville, and Skyline. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Emergency management reported multiple road closures, water entering residences, and water rescues on local roadways. IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. Paint Rock River NEAR Woodville affecting Madison, Jackson and Marshall Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Paint Rock River near Woodville. * WHEN...From this evening to Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 19.0 feet, Water is covering Alabama State Route 65 about two miles north of U.S. Highway 72. Several County Roads in Paint Rock Valley are flooded...including Jackson County Road 20. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:00 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 5.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage just after midnight tonight to a crest of 18.0 feet early Tuesday morning. It will then fall below flood stage late Tuesday evening. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
